What We Believe

We are a mainstream Christian church believing in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  We believe that God is real and that all can have a relationship with Him.  In the Bible we can see God’s relationship with humanity revealed. Through the Christmas story we believe that God cared enough about humanity to send his son and through the Easter story we see how Jesus died and rose again so that our sins can be forgiven and a way is open for all Christians to go to heaven.  There is obviously much more that can be said here, but hopefully it gives a flavour.  Crossway church is part of the United Reformed Church which was formed in 1972 by a union of Presbyterians and Congregationalists, later joined by Churches of Christ.

Our Vision

  • To be a sensitive Church for all ages, all cultures and all ethnicities.
  • To welcome, engage and encourage people new to the community
  • To be home to other Christian groups seeking to work together to serve the neighbourhood and other communities
  • The building to be used 90% between the hours of 9am. to 9pm.

We are privileged to own our building and believe that we must steward our resources in such a way that brings honour to God and maximises the opportunity of furthering the Kingdom.

Mission Statement

Our mission is ‘to deepen our relationships with God and each other, and participate in God’s transformation of our individual lives and of our community’ and is based upon the ‘great commandment’ that Jesus gave to His first followers in whose footsteps we follow today:

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

(Matthew 22:37-40)

Crossway is committed to enhancing the welfare and wellbeing of its worshippers, building users and local neighbourhood by modelling an open and welcoming attitude to all who seek a just and fair society.  We accept that there is no hierarchy on earth (Galatians 3:26) and submit ourselves to the will of God, following the example of Christ Jesus and led by the Holy Spirit.  We will persist and persevere in worship and prayer, as we know that any challenges will enhance the end result. (Romans 5:3–5)
